October 19th - Love Your Body Day

  • Note: Stickied to stay at the top
Love Your Body Day 2005 is October 19 Hollywood and the fashion, cosmetics and diet industries work hard to make each of us believe that our bodies are unacceptable and need constant improvement. Print ads and television commercials reduce us to body parts — lips, legs, breasts — airbrushed and touched up to meet impossible standards. TV shows tell women and teenage girls that cosmetic surgery is good for self-esteem. Is it any wonder that more than 80% of fourth-grade girls have been on some form of fad diet? Women and girls spend billions of dollars every year on cosmetics, fashion, magazines and diet aids. These industries can't use negative images to sell their products without our assistance. Together, we can fight back. Love Your Body: What You Can Do Love Your Body: Get the Facts

Hi there. Got here from BlogExplosion.

I hate the fact that companies are using more and more ways of making people and young girls thinking that they are fat. In the Uk more and more young people are being bullied and are commiting suicide because of the way they look. Its sickening and something needs to be done about it.

Thank God for people like you who have the guts to speak out about issues like this. I am so sick of feeling like I am what I look like/what I look like is who I am, I'm sick of worrying about the size of my ass and feeling nervous every time I get naked in front of my boyfriend (even though he thinks I'm sexy), I hate how I get so down on myself that I make long lists of everything that I hate about my body and all I have to do is pick up some stupid magazine that will affirm my body hatred. Well I am making a pact right now to stop buying those shiny sickening magazines that do nothing but make me hate myself. Obviously, it's going to take more than that but it's a step!
